Positive Deviant

What is a Positive Deviant?

It’s a research term (and methodology) that struck a real cord with me.

A Positive Deviant is someone within a community, organisation, or group who demonstrates exceptional performance or outcomes in a specific area, despite facing the same challenges, constraints, and resource limitations as their peers.

Their success is often achieved through unconventional behaviours, practices, or strategies that deviate from the norm but yield positive results.

I published 27 articles as a weekly newsletter on LinkedIn that help people help themselves, feel better and work more effectively using positive psychology.

My focus (outside of my work) is to finish my MSc before I compile the resources to help people. That will take the form of a book and future courses, and if you are interested in using your own brilliant mind to help yourself feel slightly better, please do sign up here to be informed on where to access more Positive Deviant Resources in 2026.
